According to Matt Lupes, "the [FHWA] Office of Safety is pleased to announce the availability of new training materials that will assist others deliver training on the topic of Maintaining Traffic Sign Retroreflectivity. To request your copy of a CD with these training materials please reply to this message and include your mailing address. We have also sent copies to the National Local Technical Assistance Program Association (NLTAPA) to distriribute directly to the training center in your State.

The CD contains two training courses and an appendix of additional resources. The first training course presents “The Basics of Maintaining Traffic Sign Retroreflectivity.” The second course presents “Inspector Training for Sign Retroreflectivity.” The two training courses include complete speaker notes and detailed instructions on presenting the classroom demonstrations. The demonstrations require the use of some additional props that we are unable to furnish. Additional props necessary to conduct the course are mini signs with retroreflective sheeting, a regular flashlight, and several mini flashlights. A possible source for the mini flashlights is included on the CD.
